SIS: Transfer Marking Period Average to New Class/Section

Transfer a Student's Marking Period Average (MPA) to a New Class

Important

The Drop/Add/Merge process transfers posted Marking Period grades and CTC Task Grades (when the Program of Study is the same). However, Gradebook assignments and assignment scores are not transferred to the new class.

If a student changes classes during a marking period, you may want to carry their current Marking Period Average (MPA) into the new class.

Steps

  1. Record the student's current MPA from the class they were dropped from.

  2. In the student's new class, create a new assignment with a descriptive name (for example, Transferred Grade).

  3. Select the most appropriate grading category.

  4. Set the assignment to 100 possible points.

  5. Exclude all other students in the class from the assignment.

  6. Enter the student's previous MPA as the score for the new assignment.

Note: Excluded students will not see this assignment on the Parent/Student Portal or on reports.
