AWS Migration Information for the eSD Software

Overview

CSIU will migrate eSchoolData from the current CSIU-hosted environment to eSchoolData-hosted environment in Amazon Web Services (AWS) . This migration is designed to provide a modern, scalable, and secure hosting platform for eSchoolData.

During the migration, eSchoolData will be unavailable to all users while production data is transferred and validated. Following the migration, clients will receive new URLs and will need to complete several required updates to ensure continued access to eSchoolData services.

AlertPlease Note: This migration affects eSchoolData only. FIS, SCView, SmartSub, and Synergy are not affected and will continue to be available as normal


Migration Timeline

  1. July 14, 4:00 PM: CSIU-hosted eSchoolData servers will be taken offline. 
    1. Staff should be logged out of CSIU-hosted eSchoolData by 3:30 PM to ensure that ALL data changes transfer to the AWS Servers.
  2. July 15: Data migration and synchronization activities will occur. 
    1. Staff should NOT attempt access AWS-hosted eSchoolData
  3. July 16-17: Validation and testing. 
    1. Staff should NOT attempt access AWS-hosted eSchoolData until CSIU issues an official notification that access has been restored.
  4. July 20: Go Live! 
    1. District Staff can begin accessing AWS-hosted eSchoolData 

 


System Access During Migration

To protect the integrity and accuracy of data during the migration process, CSIU-hosted eSchoolData SIS will be unavailable to all users throughout the migration window.

Alert
Users who access old CSIU-hosted URLs will be redirected to a generic informational page indicating that the eSchoolData login location has changed. The page will instruct users to visit their School District's or Career and Technical Center's website for updated login links and will indicate that eSchoolData is expected to be unavailable until July 20, 2026.

What Will Change

Following the migration:

  • eSchoolData will be hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • New URLs for Staff Access, Parent Access, Student Access, Guru Access, Online Registration and CTE Portals.

  • Existing CSIU-hosted URLs will redirect to a generic informational page indicating that the eSchoolData login location has changed. The page will instruct users to visit their School District's or Career and Technical Center's website for updated login links and will indicate that eSchoolData is expected to be unavailable until July 20, 2026.

  • Guru API credentials must be updated once the migration is complete.

  • New Communication Alert Mail Profiles must be created.

The new AWS URLs were distributed to SIS Admins during the July 7th SIS Admin Migration MeetingThose links will be made available on July 20, 2026

Pre-Planning
Locate your "District Identifiers" so you can update your public facing links with the new AWS URL & the district identifier.

Required Actions

1. Update eSchoolData URLs

Upon receiving the AWS URLs locate and update all links to eSchoolData that exist on:

  • District websites, Staff portals, Internal documentation, Bookmarks, Student Handbooks or other locally maintained resources

Alert
Plan on updating you District or CTC websites and other local resources when the system becomes available on July 20, 2026.
Remind staff that they should not log into the new site until they receive an notification from the CSIU.

2. Update Online Registration & CTE Portals

Clients using Online Registration and CTE Portals must update the public facing URLs

3. Update Guru API Credentials

Clients using Guru APIs must update their API credentials after the migration.

4. Create New Communication Alert Mail Profiles

Clients using Communication Alerts must create new mail profiles in the AWS-hosted environment.
