This article outlines how to save an existing gradebook as a template, update and apply templates. Gradebook templates act as a "Master Gradebook" that can be applied to one or more gradebooks.
Teacher Connect Gradebook > Setup
Save As Template
Allows teachers to save an existing marking period gradebook as a template.
Open the Gradebook
Click the Setup button
Click the Save as Template button
Items copied during this process - Existing Categories, Assignments and Other Measures (daily score, exams)
Note: If the gradebook is currently attached to a different template you must first unlink the applied template and then the Save as Template button will be available.
Enter a template Name
If this template is to be used in a specific marking period or a specific section, include that information in the template name. Example: COS MP1 - AM, Algebra MP2
Templates also offer a Save As button that allows you to save the current template with a different name.
Update Template
Teacher Connect Gradebook > Template
Click the Templates button to review and update saved templates
Highlight the desired template to edit the template
IMPORTANT - Before applying a template in a different School Year you should edit the template and update assignment due dates so they fall within the new marking period start and end dates. Please note, due dates can be changed in the gradebook once the template is applied. This is useful if a class is further ahead or behind.
Keep in mind thatprogress report grades are calculated based on assignment due dates.
Example: I created my template in 25-26 and want to apply it to 26-27 classes.
Before applying the template I will open the template and adjust the assignment DUE & Publish Dates by clicking directly in the due date cell and enter (or select) new dates for each assignment.
Daily Score – Select, Include, Display and enter the following values:
Max Point = 10 (or a number that matches the LEAs grading policy)
Present = 10 (or a number that matches the LEAs grading policy)
AE, AU, A*, TE, TU, T* = 0 (MUST be a zero so the grade of zero is automatically updated based on the reason the student was absent)
Weight = Percent value counted towards the Marking Period Grade (33, 34, 55, etc.)
*Note all category averages should equal 100% (Skill 33 + Knowledge 34 + Daily Score 33= 100%)
Apply a Template
Teacher Connect Gradebook > Template
Click the Apply Button
Select a class to apply
Save
Adding Assignments - Templates vs Gradebook
Once templates exist and are linked to classes assignments can be added to the template which will automatically add the assignment to each gradebook AND be part of the template for the next school year.
Assignments can be added to the individual gradebooks but will not be included in the applied template.
