This article explains how to calculate marking period grades, add comments, and finalize grades in the Teacher Connect Gradebook.
Use the Advanced Entry view in the Teacher Connect Gradebook to calculate marking period grades and enter report card information before finalizing grades.
Ensure the correct Marking Period (MP) is selected.
Verify that all assignments and scores have been entered before calculating grades.
Changes to assignment scores do not automatically update Marking Period or Final Grades. Recalculate grades after making assignment score changes.
When Districts or CTCs calculate Marking Period (MP) and Final Course Grades - Teachers are required to review the calculated grades, override them, and enter MP comments where applicable.
Open Teacher Connect Gradebook.
Select Advanced Entry from the toolbar.
In the Marking Period (MP) drop-down, select the marking period you want to calculate.
Click the dropdown icon in the Marking Period Grade column.
Select Calculate Numeric Scores.
Option | Description |
All | Recalculates grades for every student, including existing grades. |
Missing | Calculates grades only for students who do not already have a calculated grade. |
Cancel | Closes the dialog without calculating grades. |

After calculations are complete:
Review each calculated grade.
Enter a numeric override if needed.
Enter a letter grade if your grading policy requires it.
Verify that grades are accurate before proceeding.
The gradebook supports two types of comments.
Use Free Form Comments to type custom comments for individual students.
Use Selectable Comments to choose comments from your district's predefined comment list.
After reviewing marking period grades:
Change the View drop-down to Report Card Entry.
Enter:
Mid-Term scores (if applicable)
Final Exam scores (if applicable)
Assessment scores (if applicable)
Calculate:
Marking Period Grades
Final Course Grades
Calculate grades only after all assignments have been entered.
Review calculated grades before publishing report cards.
Use grade overrides only when district grading policy allows.
Export a copy of the report card entry if desired.
Repeat the calculation process separately for each course and marking period.
